Project Lead: Rob Gallagher, GreenChem Polymers
Project Partners: NSW DPI
GreenChem Polymers will coordinate with Govt/Private agencies, collecting feasibility type data of NSW biomass feedstocks, with the commercial aim of extracting Biomaterials/Biopolymers for use in wider Clean Economy and Decarbonisation processes. The primary goal is to evaluate several native hardwood feedstocks (yield and quality) with an inhouse biorefinery, as the basis for future business cases. This project by GreenChem Polymers is the forerunner to commercial deployment of up to 10 BioHubs in regional NSW of a proven Biotechnology to produce Biomaterials/biopolymers from hardwood. Data and support from this proofing will mean deployment of ‘close to feedstock’ BioEnergy/production units, bringing local employment, waste reduction & other symbiotic bioenergy systems that will want the raw materials we produce. GreenChem Polymers process will provide the opportunity to substitute current fossil-based fuels and or plastics inputs for Natural, Renewable, High value Biopolymers into everyday consumer items and processes. (Decarbonisation).
