The NSW Decarbonisation Innovation Hub supports the NSW Government’s goal of net zero emissions by 2050 and the recently updated objective to reduce emissions by 50% below 2005 levels by 2030.
A Decarbonisation Innovation Study released in 2020 identified 65 opportunities for NSW that could potentially reduce emissions and provide economic benefit.

What is the Decarb Hub?
The Hub was established in June 2022 with funding from the NSW Government through the Office of the Chief Scientist & Engineer and The NSW Environmental Trust.
We support our three Networks to accelerate and attract investment into decarbonisation tech and services projects in NSW as we work towards net zero. The Hub fosters collaboration, partnerships and projects between industry, researchers and government to drive decarbonisation forward in NSW and beyond.
The Decarb Hub is co-hosted by UNSW and the University of Newcastle and supported by leading universities across NSW. We’re funded by the NSW Government and the member universities, supporting the NSW Government’s goal of net zero emissions by 2050 and a 50% reduction on 2005 levels by 2030.
The Hub is co-hosted by UNSW and the University of Newcastle and supported by leading universities across NSW. It is funded by the NSW Government and the member universities. We directly support the NSW Government’s goal of net zero emissions by 2050, and a 50% reduction on 2005 levels by 2030.
Technology Readiness Levels
The Hub supports the development, demonstration, deployment and commercialisation of technologies from TRL 3 to TRL 6. We aim to bridge the gap between research and viability. For background on Technology Readiness Levels and the Commercial Readiness Index, see this paper produced by ARENA.
